Top Movies of 2011
Well it has been another great for films with a succession of sequels really leading the field. There have been some really great successes although there were also some sad endings as some film franchises came to an end, or neared the end. This said it is good news for the next set of films to hit the screens. One highly anticipated film franchise will be the hunger games which will happily step into the shoes of the Harry Potter and Twilight audiences.
It just shows how a lot of studios are opting for the safer bets this year with the ongoing financial difficulties across the world. This is not to say they cutting back on the money spent on these films, quite the contrary. As they are sequels and are more of a known quantity (in how much they will make) these movies have a lot spent on their production. Check out these large spends of the year…
| 1 | Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides | $250,000,000 |
| =2 | Cars 2 | $200,000,000 |
| =2 | Green Lantern | $200,000,000 |
| 4 | Transformers: Dark of the Moon | $195,000,000 |
| 5 | Hugo | $170,000,000 |
| 6 | Cowboys & Aliens | $163,000,000 |
| 7 | X-Men: First Class | $160,000,000 |
| 8 | Thor | $150,000,000 |
| 9 | Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol | $145,000,000 |
| 10 | Captain America: The First Avenger | $140,000,000 |
So you can see there are some pretty mega bucks films being released. It is just a safer option as films like Twilight and Harry Potter have a following so realistically they could put out any rubbish and it would still make a lot!!
